Windows: Disable Registration and Updater on Photoshop CS2

Terakhir diperbaharui: Kamis, 25 Agustus 2016 pukul 15:12

Yes, Adobe Photoshop CS2 it’s not quietly right to be saying that the product is for FREE. But, at least the serial number is given by Adobe itself :D.

Why Photoshop CS2?

For me, Photoshop version is not different so much, since I’m just using the basic feature :D. All version is still using same mandatory preset.

After installed Photoshop CS2, you will be ask for registration and update. The registration window and updater always come up when we open Photoshop CS2, and for me, it’s bit like so annoying :D.

Remove Registration WIndow

Go to Photoshop CS2 installation folder and rename file “regsresen_US.dll” to “regsresen_US.dll.bak” or anything or just delete the file. After you rename or deleted the file you won’t asking again for registration

Turn Off Updater

Go to path of Common FIles, if you using Windows 32bit then the path is:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Updater

If you using WIndows 64bit, then go to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Updater

Open AdobeUpdater.exe and turn off by uncheck “Automatically check for updates every month“.

Thats it, now you can enjoy nag screen from Photoshop CS2 :D. Hope this help.

Install Visual Basic 6 on Windows 7 / Windows 8

Terakhir diperbaharui: Kamis, 25 Agustus 2016 pukul 15:12

You may be wondering, Why install Visual Basic 6 on the new operating systems such as windows 7 or Windows 8.

Well, VB6 is the best tool for learning GUI programming in Windows. But they never tell how to install them on newer operating operating systems.

This has been successfully tested on my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, so it should probably work with Windows 8 too.

Before Install

Type cmd in Start Menu -> Right click on cmd.exe -> select “Run as administrator” and type in the following comman:

copy nul C:\Windows\msjava.dll

  • Browse to the root folder of CD (or the extracted folder on Desktop)
  • Right Click “SETUP.EXE” -> Properties -> Compatibility Tab
  • Now Check “Run this program in compatibility mode” and Select Windows XP( Service Pack 3)
  • Also Check “Run this program as Administrator” and Click OK
  • Now open SETUP.EXE. UAC will prompt for confirmation. Select Yes
  • Now some Program Compatibility Assistant warnings might appear. Select Run Program There
  • Click Next -> Click “I accept agreement”, then Next -> Enter name and company information, click Next
  • Now Select “Custom Setup” (IMPORTANT). Click Next
  • Click Continue, then OK
  • Now Setup Will Wait and process some information. It might also go to “Not responding” State and Windows might Prompt to close the Process. DO NOT close the process.(IMPORTANT)  Select “Wait for the program to respond”.
    Wait time varies, I had to wait for 30-45 mins on “Not Responding” State. You might need to wait more…or less if you are lucky
  • Now finally the options list appears
  • Click on “Select All”. All options should be checked. Click Continue, setup will continue.
  • Now Setup might again Hang on “Updating System”. Wait, DO NOT close the process. Again the wait time might be from few mins to an hour..!!
  • Finally, a successful completion dialog will appear, at which click OK. At this point, Visual Basic 6 is installed. Some people might also get some error, but Visual Basic 6 will be installed anyways.
  • Access it from Start Menu

If you see any sluggishness, example for resizing the objects, here the quick fix.

Browse the location where you installed VB6. By default, the path is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98

  • Right click the VB6.exe program file, and select properties from the context menu.
  • Click on compatibility tab
  • Check the checkboxes:

For Windows 7

  • Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
  • Disable Visual Themes
  • Disable Desktop Composition
  • Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

For Windows 8

  • Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3)
  • Reduced Color Mode (16-Bit Color)
  • Disable display scaling on high DPI settings

After saving, open VB6, It should be work normally.

Windows: How To Make ISO for Free

Terakhir diperbaharui: Kamis, 25 Agustus 2016 pukul 15:12

As you know, one of the new features in Windows 8 is the ability to natively open and view ISO and VHD files right from File Explorer. There is a lot way how to make ISO for free for Windows, but I jump conclusion with ISO Recorder because it is so simple and DO the best job.

ISO Recorder is a simple Power Tool-like utility created by Alex Feinman for Windows 7 that works perfectly in Windows 8. It doesn’t come with a lot of bells and whistles, but does the job of creating ISO files very efficiently. In addition to creating an ISO file from optical discs, ISO Recorder will allow you to create ISO files from folders.

When you arrive at the ISO Recorder download page, you’ll see that the Windows 7 edition of ISO Recorder is labeled version 3.1 and that there are downloads for both 32-bit ad 64-bit.

WordPress: Display All Categories with ID

Terakhir diperbaharui: Kamis, 25 Agustus 2016 pukul 15:12

If you are a developer, in some cases you need to get all categories and their IDs. You might start referring to wordpress codex but most likely you will end up with no solution, just like me. Rather than counting on wordpress’s built-in function, you can write your own MySQL query to accomplish this.

Display All Categories with ID

$result = mysql_query("SELECT ".$table_prefix."terms.term_id, ".$table_prefix.",".$table_prefix."term_taxonomy.taxonomy FROM ".$table_prefix."terms INNER JOIN ".$table_prefix."term_taxonomy ON ".$table_prefix."terms.term_id = ".$table_prefix."term_taxonomy.term_id WHERE ".$table_prefix."term_taxonomy.taxonomy = 'category'");
while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
// uncomment the line below to view the content of $row
// var_dump($row);
// category ID = $row['term_id']
// category name = $row['name']
echo $row['name'].' - ID '.$row['term_id'].'<br />';

$table_prefix is a variable declared in wp-config.php, it carries value “wp_” by default unless you changed the setting. It is your SQL tables’ prefix.

WordPress stores all category, tags, etc in wp_term_taxonomy table so we can load all categories name and ID from there.

Display All Page with ID

$result = mysql_query("SELECT post_title, ID FROM ".$table_prefix."posts WHERE post_type = 'page' AND post_status = 'publish';");
while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) {
// uncomment the line below to view the content of $row
// var_dump($row);
// page ID = $row['ID']
// page name = $row['post_title']
echo $row['post_title'].' - ID '.$row['ID'].'<br />';

WordPress stores all pages in wp_posts table, but with post_type set as “page”.

Hardware: How to Fix “Please plug-in audio device” on Installing Driver ASUS Xonar D2/PM

Terakhir diperbaharui: Kamis, 25 Agustus 2016 pukul 15:12

Yesterday, we bought sound card ASUS Xonar D2/PM for new crew, Audio Production. Install the sound card in Windows 7 64bit but never succeeded. We try to install the driver but always error with prompt “Please plug-in audio device”.

Xonar EEPROM failure

Sometimes, Xonar PCI/PCI-E cards randomly fail to be recognized.

The driver refused to load or to install, and in Device Manager, the card is shown as an unknown sound card or as “C-Media Oxygen audio device”. Putting the card into another slot or another computer does not help.

This happens when the EEPROM on the card gets overwritten.
(This EEPROM stores the PCI subsystem vendor and product IDs; when it gets overwritten, the main chip cannot read the subsystem IDs and uses a default ID (13F6:8788) which is not recognized by the Xonar driver.)

To reliably detect whether the EEPROM was overwritten, go into Device Manager, show the properties page of the device, go to the “Details” tab, and select the property “Hardware IDs”, and look at the values after “SUBSYS_”:

If Hardware Ids PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_878813F6 or PCI\VEN_13F6&DEV_8788&SUBSYS_434D1043 then it means you got overwritten EEPROM.

The exact cause is unknown.
It seems that the problem occurs only with certain computers or motherboards, and after booting from a CD (i.e., (re)installation of an operating system, or using a live CD).

Restoring the EEPROM

Download this tool that already compiled to ISO: restoree_EEPROM.iso and then burn to blank a CD-R then restart your PC and boot from the CD.

When you got succeeded boot from CD, you just need to type “YES“, restart the PC and try again with install the driver for Sonar D2/PM.

Windows: Laptop Plugged in but Not Charging

Power management software in Windows 8.1

Understanding battery charging issues.

If the notebook battery is not charging or the notebook does not indicate that the battery is charging, the most likely scenario is that the battery itself is operating correctly, but its power management software may have become corrupt. In order to correct the problem, you will need to uninstall and reinstall the power management software by using the Device Manager. This document will explain how to uninstall and reinstall the ACPI Battery listings in Windows 8, as well as how to obtain and install updated BIOS files, if needed to correct other battery issues.

Uninstalling and reinstalling power management software in Windows 8.1
In order to correct problems with the battery’s power management software, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager .
  2. Expand the Batteries category.
  3. Under the Batteries category, right-click the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery listing, and select Uninstall .
    WARNING: Do not remove the Microsoft AC Adapter driver or any other ACPI compliant driver.
  4. On the Device Manager taskbar, click Scan for hardware changes, alternately, select Action > Scan for hardware changes .

Windows will scan your computer for hardware that doesn’t have drivers installed, and will install the drivers needed to manage your battery’s power. The notebook should now indicate that the battery is charging.
